Algeria

In 1978, Ted Baker began his international business journey embarking on a historic deal with the Algerian Government, and subsequently opening an office in Paris and Biskra, Algeria. Alongside Clarence Avant and Andrew Young, Ted Baker & Associates negotiated a contract to build 1,006 units (Phase 1) of a 6,000 unit planned development in Biskar, Algeria through the “design build” contract method. Due to the Oil Crisis of 1979 and the global economic impact of conflicts in the Middle East, negotiations and construction slowed and ultimately stopped in 1980.
